About me

I would consider myself to be an extremely determined, self-motivated young artist. I am constantly having ideas for projects outside of the A-level curriculum and I enjoy working independently. Art is something that I do of my own volition rather than treating it as just a subject. To me it’s more like a life-style, and is a part of everything I do.  Art has always been something that I can get completely absorbed in. I have often been known to forget the time, or to eat because I have become so transfixed by a piece or because I’m enjoying myself too much to tear myself away. I have a love of experimental techniques, which shows through my abstract work and my photography.  When my paintbrushes inevitably reach the gunky stage, I see this as an opportunity to work with pallet knives, sponge or whatever happens to be lying around. I am very open to new ideas and opinions and over the last few years I have developed a keen interest in debate and the aesthetics of art.

I am particularly interested in the opportunities Manchester Metropolitan has to offer by teaching a wide range of exciting medias.  Whilst touring the university I fell in love with the studio space, and found myself in awe of the quality of work displayed by the students. I feel that being surrounded by such talented students would provide me with even more drive in my work. For me this university provides an irresistible challenge. Manchester as a city also has much to offer in the way of art galleries.  I am particularly interested in the Witworth Gallery and the networking experiences the university gives to its students. I believe that I would be a great candidate for Manchester Metropolitan, as I feel that I have lots of potential that could be developed by this university.
